Most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on
The pros and cons of memory foam mattresses
Or is it too soft to offer real support? Keep reading for answers from our mattress experts.
The softness and reactivity of the memory foam mean that it not only moulds to your body but does so in response to the pressure you exert on it. In fact, it is this reactive nature that allows it to evenly distribute body weight. But it doesn’t react to that energy it absorbs it, which means you won’t wake up anynone else in bed when you move.
To summarise, memory foam provides:
At Casper, we chose to have memory foam in the second layer of our mattress and to play a pivotal part in the construction of our mattress and offer all the above features.
At Casper, memory foam alone is not enough for a great mattress. We compliment its qualities with 3 other layers of foam for durability, breathability and support. The contour cuts at hip and shoulder level, allowing them to sink in for spinal alignment.
Our mix of memory foam with 3 other layers and contour cuts means our customers give us 5* for support.
No regrets. Who would have thought a mattress could be a life change. I am getting the best sleep ever. Can't recommend Casper enough.
The number one complaint from people who own a memory foam mattress is that it can lead to over-heating. Ironically, it is those properties that make memory foam so comfortable that lead to this issue - the sinking in, its ability to mould to the body - well, if you’re not careful it can all be a little bit suffocating.
So at Casper, we knew something had to give. Because we wanted while we wanted all those good bits, we didn’t want a bed that would have our customers waking up covered in sweat. Which is why we added something to solve this problem; a top layer that separates you from the sometimes “clingy” memory foam below. For this, we chose a material that was open-cell. Why? Well, allowing air to circulate is exactly what is going to keep you cool.
There are other benefits to not relying on memory foam alone. Namely, how long your bed is going to last. We wanted your relationship with your Casper to be a lasting one, which is why we added a non-memory foam base layer to the bottom of our mattress. The properties we were looking for? First, of all - thickness. This is important to give you the steady support you need. Secondly, it had to be molecularly denser. While this wouldn’t add comfort as a top layer, it does what you need in a lower layer with lasting support in mind!
