Taking the time to adjust

Your body can take at least 30 days to adjust, which is why we have a 30-Night Adjustment Period. Read on for tips to get there faster.

Still getting comfy?

The good news: it’s totally normal to experience new sensations with a new mattress.
The better news: our experts and customers have advice for adapting faster.

Designed for how you sleep

In designing our mattresses, we measure lots of things throughout the night — like body movement, breathing, and length of REM cycles. We also extensively test and design for spinal alignment for a wide range of heights.

More time can help

Ironically, you may actually feel uncomfortable or sore at first, as many of us have adopted a poor posture in life over the years. Many of our customers report that after a period of adjustment, the discomfort goes away.

For aches or pains, try:

Checking mattress orientation

Proper support means that the Casper logo is on the left side and you can read the name from bottom to top.

Checking under your mattress

Make sure your mattress is on a firm, flat surface off the floor or on appropriately spaced slats. Ensure proper support by choosing the right bed frame.

Tailoring support with pillows

The height of your pillow should enable a straight neck, while a pillow between your knees can help align your hips.

For overheating, try:

Removing mattress protector

Some folks find that a mattress protector can end up trapping heat, see if taking it off for a few nights helps.

Breathable bedding & PJs

Natural fabrics like cotton or linen in your sheets, duvet, and pajamas will enable more airflow and cooling.

Setting the thermostat

According to the Mayo Clinic, the ideal temperature for falling asleep is between 60-67 degrees Fahrenheit — this might be a cooler temperature than you’re used to but can help you fall asleep.

For scent sensitivity, try:

Creating a cross-breeze

Airing out new mattress smells is normal (like a new car), and our foams are non-toxic, as certified by CertiPUR. Leave bedroom windows and door open for effective ventilation.

Setting out bowls of baking soda

Just like in your refrigerator, baking soda or white vinegar can be effective natural methods for absorbing odors.

Walking on the mattress

Walking on your mattress without any sheets or mattress protector sometimes helps release any scent faster — like a massage for your bed.
