Engineered for everything you might do in bed, the Casper’s award-winning sleep surface is a combination of springy latex foam and supportive memory foam. It offers just the right amount of sink and bounce so you’ll never feel stuck.
Our top layer of latex foam features a breathable, open-cell design to increase circulation and keep you cool. Air can pass freely beneath your body, even when the material contours to your curves.
A flat platform will offer direct support under your Casper.
A slatted base works just fine. The slats should be unyielding, wooden, secured into the base, and spaced less than 3" apart.
The Casper mattress works with most modern box springs. Just make sure the wooden slats directly support the mattress and there are no more than 3" between each slat.
I sleep solo on a twin in the guest room 5 nights a week due to very early shifts waking the rest of the house. I'm not a huge guy, about 185ish, but every twin I've had up to now has turned into a hammock within 2-3 weeks. I've gone real expensive (1900 on a twin), real cheap, firm, soft, spring, memory foam, tempupedic, you name it over the years. My Casper is literally miles better than every single one bar none. From the unboxing experience (which was just a fun and a nice personal touch) to every night I finally get uninterrupted sleep. I'm a side sleeper, and never realized one of the main reasons for the tossing and turning I thought was normal was simply inadequate support. Even on a firm memory foam matress if I tried to roll over there was always that depression I was just lying in pulling me back. Not on Casper. As a matter of fact the latex matress springs back to almost help you reposition and then instantly conform to your new position for optimum support. It's rated medium firm which made me hesitate for a bit, but so very glad I gave it a try. Climbing into bed feels slightly more like climbing ONTO the bed, but once you lay back into the pillow it is almost like floating there. I actually wake up in the same position I fell asleep in half the time now. I don't remember how long it's been since that happened. Love, love, love it. Strongly recommend it!
Alright, let's get this started. Rewind a bit to 2009. I was in college, my father helped me buy a Queen semi-firm mattress from Sam's and box spring. That's what I'd been using for 7+ years until about 2 weeks ago. My partner and I had been sleepin on it as well for about 3 years, so it began to sink in the middle, very common in spring mattresses that have seen a lot of use. The earlier part of this year I began sleepwalking and talking. Weird, I know. I wasn't getting a full night's sleep. MAYBE 4-5 hours a night. I was exhausted, tired, a zombie during the day. I could never get comfortable at night and was tossing and turning. He was too, so we'd keep waking each other up and it was just a cyclical seventh circle of hell every night for a few months. He suffers from some back and shoulder pain so needless to say, we were pretty desperate for awhile. One day I was online and saw an ad for the Casper mattress. The ad was minimal, fresh, and trendy. Of course a sleep deprived Millennial like myself clicked on it. My partner had hinted awhile back that maybe we should get a new mattress, so I sent it to him. We'd been wanting to upgrade to a King sized mattress, but honestly the price range for a lot of the brick-and-mortar stores was out of our range. The price of a Casper king is and was attractive. We had a referral code as well. Free shipping, too? What was the catch? Was this thing made of marshmallows? We soon found out there wasn't a catch. This product is genuine. We ordered and 3, maybe 4, days later it was on our doorstep. The box is about 80-90lbs for a king, so we teamed up and carried it upstairs. I had an adjustable bed frame, and we used wooden planks for our support since we didn't want to spend money on 2 twin XL box springs. We've been sleeping on it about a week so far and I've slept a full 8 hours every night. In fact, the sleep I've gotten has been SO good, that I was late to work 4-5 days last week. But it's not Casper's problem that I don't want to leave their bed now. Also, it's cute looking.
We slept on a queen size Casper at an AirB'n'B and we loved it! The owner of the house said that it was new and we were the first ones to sleep on it. It was unbelievably comfortable. I ordered a twin for my daughter when we got home and it smelled horrible for over a month! It was as if this was a different mattress...and it off gassed for much too long considering that this was supposedly a healthy mattress. I was in shock at the odor and didn't think it slept the same as the other one. It smelled so strong that her stuffed animals, pillows, sheets, and blankets soaked up the smell too. It was really awful. We were planning to get a queen for our house, but I'd like to do more research before ordering due to the off gassing.
So I've had my casper twin sized mattress for a number of months now so this is basically an update review. I was curious as to how long it takes for me to fall asleep as my old beds sometimes kept me awake for as long as 2 hours before I finally fell asleep. To do this test I repeated it several times over the past several weeks. Went to bed at my normal time and turned my smartphone to my favorite local night talk show. I set the sleep timer to one hour, then 30 minutes and finally 15 minutes to automatically turn the radio off. last night I had confirmed that it takes less than 15 minutes for me to fall asleep on my Casper.Last thing I remember last night was the radio show host talking about space .Checking my audio recorder which is set to automatically stop after 30 minutes it was confirmed that after 15 minutes my smart phone shut down and for the next 15 minutes I could hear myself breathing slowly as I drifted off into REM sleep. So to sum it up, I'm now falling asleep in under 15 under normal non-stress conditions. Never had that luxury before with other mattress manufacturers. What ever you're doing Casper, keep it up. Thanks again for the great sleep and feeling fully rested in the morning!
I bought it based on Consumer Reports ratings and seeing in person in the Napmobile in Houston. It is barely too soft for me, personally - lower back discomfort. (I use a competitor's product with 'numbers', but it is extremely expensive.) The Casper is in my guest room, and every guest so far has high praise for it. Doubly surprised when I tell them I bought online and for how much. I plan to replace the twin beds in the other guest room eventually and will replace them with the Casper product.
After sleeping on a twin mattress for most of my life, I declared an upgrade was in order and this mattress was a hell of an upgrade. No complaints whatsoever. I burned my old mattress (cool guys never look at explosions) and I'm never looking back either.
Overall, this is a great mattress and great company. Their customer service is prompt to talk and fix any problems. I had a little problem with the 50 dollar discount and they resolved it within 5 minutes. The mattress itself is wonderful, it's very quiet and doesn't transfer movement (although if you enjoy jumping on your bed, it might not be as good as a traditional spring mattress). The firmness is a little too much for me personally, A pillow-top cover should fix that. The unboxing was kind of cool although not too important, what is important though is how portable and compact this mattress can be. Anyone whose job takes them around the globe can now take their bed with them quite easily. My previous bed was a twin sized Sleep Number and is still a great bed, went with the Casper over another Sleep Number when upgrading to the Queen size because I didn't like the divider down the middle of the Sleep Number.
It was relatively easy to unbox. I used my old bed frame and purchased a Queen size Bunky Board to put the Casper queen size mattress on. It sits a little low so maybe I really need a better bed frame that sits a little higher. I really wish that some of the sheets and pillows you sold could be sold for a lower price or maybe together in a gift set. I liked this mattress so I purchased a twin size mattress from my son who moved in with us.
My husband purchased a king size August 2015 when I was 5 months pregnant because our current mattress was a good one but my back was killing. After the 1st night sleeping on our Casper, I finally felt relief! We purchased two twin size Coaster Bunkie Boards from Nebraska Furniture to use as our base on top of our box springs from other bed. This worked best with our bed frame and I needed to height to get in and out of the bed. Ten months later I can attest that this is still the best mattress I've ever slept on!!! Our 5 1/2 month old will nap with us along with our 7 lb shorkipoo and our cat!!! Let me tell you, weekends are spent a little longer in bed for cuddles with our lil family! #squadgoals
After listening to Peter Sagel talk about the Casper bed a bunch of times on NPR, I finally chose one for my 6 year old daughter when it was finally time to transition her out of her toddler bed into a twin size bed. Before purchase, i did IM the online help to find out how firm the mattress was. Medium Firm. Im'ing them online was helpful and fast. But unfortunately, there's no retail store in SF Bay Area yet to go try one out. Ordering online was also very easy..got $50 discount using NPR code. Box arrived and it was easy to unpack it because you basically unroll it like a giant sushi roll. Cut the plastic wrapping off and voila..it's now a full size bed. At first I was skeptical how comfortable it would be since our entire family sleeps on extra firm beds, but my daughter seems to like it a lot. And one night while the kids are sleeping over at their grandparents' house, i slept in her bed! It was awesome. I woke up without any soreness or lower back pain which i was getting from my extra firm bed!! So, net of is, firmer isn't always better. This bed cradles you just right so you get all the support in the right places. I look forward to when the kid is away so i can sleep in her bed again. Or when my husband and I need to retire our bed, I would buy another Casper for us!
I bought a twin matress for my 13 year old son. With his previous matress he would get up two or three times during the night and I thought his bed was the reason. So I bought the Casper on a recommendation from a friend. I was curious to see how a matress could be shipped ups in a box. It was unbelievable how it unfolded and set up so easily. My son is sleeping through the night and I owe it all to the Casper matress.
Unboxing was fun. At first we thought it was a twin instead of a king size. Then all of a sudden it started expanding. Lots of laughs as it came to size. One thing we didn't know was that the mattress needs to be aired out. We noticed a smell but thought nothing of it. Slept on it through the night. I woke up with a headache and discovered it was from the smell of the mattress. We took off all the sheets and mattress cover, opened up the windows to get a cross circulation and set a fan on it for 8 hours. It was okay to sleep without a smell after that. Its been about 3-4 weeks now and we no longer have the smell to contend with. We are enjoying our purchase and would recommend it to anyone.
My wife and I ordered our king Casper mattress after 5 years of terrible sleeping arrangements. When we first got married we had two twin mattresses pushed together and to snuggle one of us would end up in the crack. We would take turns sleeping in the crack. About a year of that and we had enough, I built a queen bedframe and went to Sleepy's for a black Friday deal and ended up with a super soft pillowtop Beautyrest. It was great for a few months, but soon it began to sag and eventually I was in so much pain at night I would need to sleep on the floor. We endured that bed for 3 more years until last year we purchased a king Casper. I have compound neck and spinal injuries that cause unbelievable pain if my spine isn't properly aligned so the 4 years or so of the uncomfortable sleeping have taken a toll. We ordered the Casper and I got to work building us a king size platform bed frame. We got the Casper box and immediately ripped it open and out sprung our new mattress! We actually filmed a stop motion movie of our unboxing, but not sure how to post it here. Probably will end up on youtube. Our first night was odd. It felt firm. But then by the second or third night we noticed that we didn't "Feel" the bed. I especially noticed that I felt no pressure points or pain when sleeping on it! Now, about 7 months after purchasing, we are still extremely happy with it. No sagging, no problems. Feels the same as when we first got it. Also for anyone curious about being intimate, it's great. Prefect balance of spring and cush to get the rythm just right. Now my problem is my crappy pillow! So we just placed the order for a king size Casper pillow. I only have one complaint, the piping along the edge of the mattress is annoying at times because I sleep with a leg off the bed and I can feel it. I would prefer a smooth edge there. But that's totally made up for by the fact that Casper has healed my back. I actually wake up now from deep sleep and feel refreshed each morning. My friends are skeptical of such a well priced mattress being SO GOOD. But what's to loose when there's 100 day money back guarantee!! I tell everyone about the Casper mattress. I can't wait to try the pillow!
I waited forever to purchase a new mattress -- because you get to try it for a few minutes, pay a thousand dollars, and you are stuck with the purchase, regardless of whether is works out for you or not. However, I am a big Glenn Beck fan and, after countless commercials -- and hearing the guys talk about their Casper mattresses over, over and over--since I couldn't figure out how to prove that your new innovation was the best thing in mattresses, I decided to go with your Company simply because of the 100 day guarantee. You're right, the box-opening experience is one I should have saved for a group performance! My husband had gone to bed, and I had read that the mattress might have a strong smell for the first few days, so I opened it in the living room by myself. That was really FUN to watch....my first reaction being, "oh no....they sent me a twin by mistake!". It reminded me of one of those little flat sponges that you put a few drops of water on, and it transforms into something else - I only wish that my Grandson had been there to watch, as he would have loved it! So, right away, I can tell that it is too firm. I knew what to do - the reviews had told me that a topper could be had to rectify the problem. I did push hard to get it sent earlier than they usually do - but I was dying for a decent night's sleep! And it certainly did the trick. From that day on, I have nothing but high praise for this mattress - our married kids are planning to purchase one as well. I don't write reviews unless I am really unhappy with the purchase, actually.....but I had to let you know that you were right about your product - and thank you for the topper, which made the bed perfect for me. It was perfect for my husband from the first night, and now we are both happy!
I really do like it. My sleeps are awesome. I wasn't expecting it to be amazing cause it's on the floor and it seemed to good to be true. But the comfort is really there. I have great sleeps and most of the times I don't want to get out of my bed cause it's comfy. He only regret is that I should've got the twin xl. I thought the regular twin size will be Long enough but I forgot to think about my blankets. So it's good for my length but my blankets hang off to the ground.
In addition the the usual fantastic nights sleep, we are using our Mattress Genie Bed Lift system and it works much better than it did with our Select Comfort mattress. If you have a King size bed, get two twin lifters because there is not baffling in the King size lifter, and you will definitely notice when your partner gets out of bed. With two twin lifters you retain Casper's ability to not disturb you partner when getting out of bed.
I fell hard for the marketing.... I have been looking at the advertisements over a year and I knew it was time to upgrade my mattress from the memory foam I had. My previous mattress was a great mattress but after 10 years it was sagging too much so I thought I'd try a Casper as it is also a foam mattress. I loved the Tempurpedic mattresses and I knew I wanted something that comfortable so I purchased the memory foam. Because me other mattresses had started to sag, it was lacking support so the idea of a firmer foam mattress was very appealing to me. My previous mattress was a twin Xl so i ordered a twin mattress from Casper by mistake. I opened the original without realizing what I had ordered. They offered to exchange it for me and I had slept on it for 1 night. It seemed took firm but because I was determined to like it I thought, it would soften over time so I did the exchange which cost me my 100 night trial. It's been two weeks and I have relented and ordered a memory foam mattress. This mattress is not just firm.. it's as hard as a rock. My back doesn't hurt like it did before, it now hurts in newer areas and the pressure points on my back and hips are sore when I wake up. I cannot sleep more than 6 hours on this mattress. I really wanted to like it. My advice.. go and sleep on one if you can, and if not.. try it out and go with your initial instinct.. Mine was.. "this is too hard" and it is! Casper.. you and I both let me down. I was at work today talking about it and warned people there.. stay away. Your customer service was great but your product where I'm concerned is horrible. I'm sorry I can't be more positive but I am honestly not happy.
Unboxing was easy and quick, but if you were like me and just jumped right on, you will hit a rather firm mattress. I bought this thinking it was going to be like my gel memory foam topper where it was slightly firm and then you comfortably sink in. Casper mattress has almost zero sink factor. I read the pamphlet saying that it could take up to 30 days to adjust to the bed, which was a little disheartening. I dreaded those weeks because I was never able to sleep throughout the night, constantly getting up every 3 hours, and the morning I could feel the pain in my back. I was on the verge of calling Casper to return it. It has been 47 days now. But this last week and a half, I have finally started to pass out and sleep really well. Although I have been busier than before so I believe that might have to do with it more than me adjusting to the mattress. It is much more comfortable now than the 1st week. Is my twin bed worth $500? Probably not, still deciding if I want to return it since I am still within my 100 trial days. Firmness rating: 8/10 Material Quality: 10/10 Recommending to others rating: 5/10 Happy sleeper rating: 7/10 Service of Casper: 10/10
The unboxing of the King was great! It was too heavy for me to do on my own, so my grown daughter did most of the work. It was fun watching it's exploding when it was released!!! It truly falls out of it's bundle without one wrinkle left. The twin size is pretty moveable but the King size will give me issues when I try to put a bed skirt/ dust ruffle between the mattress and the box springs. May just buy a new bedspread or add a layer onto existing comforter. It's one heavy mattress but I really love it. And yes I would definitely refer a friend to it.
