From the time we tried

"From the time we tried the mattress at the store, we were hooked. The innerspring mattress with the soft foam layers, offer a night's sleep that feels perfect. I like the support of the Casper in a standard mattress height, so all of the added foam pads can go and I can sit comforably on the side of the bed. Plus the sheets fit better. After 6-weeks, we're sleeping and dreaming peacefully every night. We plan to allow the full 3-month test-run before tossing the old mattresses, but as of now, we're pretty certain that Casper is truly a keeper."

We ordered the split king

"We ordered the split king mattress and base configuration. We love the ability to adjust our head and feet and couldn’t be happier with the base. I do wish the mattress was a little softer but that’s my own preference, nothing to do with the mattress. It's a keeper. I'm coming

"It's a keeper. I'm coming from a Sealy Posturepedic Crown Jewel queen firm, probably 20 years old. I have moderately bad sleep apnea and am a bit overweight. It is necessary for me to sleep on my side to minimize airway obstruction. The shoulder and hip pain I was developing from this position is much better now. Despite the Snow being considered firm by your and Consumer Reports criteria, I find it softer than what I have been used to. It is harder to turn over during the night and there is more sag when sitting on the edge. I don't know if this suggests a more limited lifespan or not. Temperature wise it seems neutral. I much prefer a cooler sleep environment and have not noticed much difference among various mattresses at home vs hotels etc. All in all the pros weigh more than the cons and getting/setting up our first online mattress was essentially hassle-free. "This is a good mattress, though it is not heavy so moves around a bit on the adjustable foundation. Delivery was not a good experience. Mattress was left in driveway, in the rain, even though we paid for set up. The set up had to be scheduled separately…for a week later."

What is a mattress in a box? How long does it take for a Casper mattress to expand?

A mattress in a box is a mattress that’s compressed in an air-sealed bag and rolled tight so that it can fit into a box that’s easier to maneuver than a traditional mattress. This innovation gives you the freedom to explore our mattress collection, compare choices, and order the best mattress for your needs online, all delivered straight to your door.

When you receive the mattress, all you’ll need to do is pull it out of its packaging, lay it flat on your bed frame or floor, and let it expand.

Foam and hybrid mattresses can be slept on almost right away but may take up to 48 hours to expand fully. Our Snow mattresses are primarily made with memory foam and can take up to 72 hours to expand fully.

Is a foundation the same as a box spring?

Not quite. Both bed foundations and box springs provide a base support layer for any mattress type. However, box springs add a little extra give and increase breathability, while foundations are for overall support.

A box spring is any wood or metal bed frame containing coiled springs covered by cloth. This once-popular design is now mostly found on older beds.

A foundation is any non-spring bed base, from metal or wooden slats to solid platforms. Slat models, often referred to as slatted foundations, provide more air circulation and flexibility, while solid bases give the firmest support.

Both slats and solid foundations are an ideal box spring alternative for better mattress protection.
